Miss Norma’s Diary – April 30, 1961 – “I don’t know why he doesn’t want to go to the drive-in anymore with Ian”

Sunday

“Today Barbara and I went down the street then we came up here and played records. Then Bill took us out to eat then we went down to Barbara’s and played records then her folks came home then Larry came down there for a few minutes then he left. Later her folks left then we played records again. Then I called Larry and he said that we weren’t going to go to the drive-in with Ian anymore and if he got off next weekend we were going to the Roxy. I don’t know why he doesn’t want to go to the drive-in anymore with Ian.

I guess it’s cause Ian gripes all the time.’

Friday

“Today I went to school. After school when Barb and I were walking home, Larry was parked outside so we talked to him for 30 minutes. Then we went to my house and I washed my hair then we went down the street and It a new purse. At night, Barb and I went to the show. We started to sit down behind this boy but I wanted to sit in front of him. So, when I started to sit down I saw that the boy was Larry. So, we sat in that row. Larry was in a bad mood tonight. I didn’t call him up when we got home.

Barbara spent the night with me.”

Miss Norma’s Diary – April 23, 1961 – “Then he told me, ‘Norma, you know how crazy I am about you.’”

Sunday

“Today in the morning Barbara and I went to her house did the work and came up here again. Then Ian took us for a drive after we picked up Larry. We drove up past Oceanside then they ate up there. On the way back some tube popped in Ian’s car so they got it fixed. I was real mad cause I thought mommy and daddy would have to come and get us but the tube didn’t hurt anything. So, I was mad then and Larry asked me if I was mad and I said ‘no’ Then he asked me if I wanted us to stop seeing each other and I didn’t answer. I almost starting balling. Then Larry said, ‘I couldn’t stop seeing you now.’ Then he told me, ‘Norma, you know how crazy I am about you.’ And I said, ‘I don’t want to stop seeing you.’ And then he kissed me.

Then we were making out a whole lot and then Larry messed up my hair.

So, I messed up his hair and then he kissed me goodbye and later I called him. Today I said, ‘I hope mom and dad don’t see us’ And Larry said, ‘Well, I’ll see them sooner or later anyway won’t I?’ and he kissed me and I said, ‘yeah’.”

Miss Norma’s Diary – April 22, 1961 – “Larry French kissed me once and I’m kinda glad that’s all. I don’t care for it.”

Saturday

“Today Barbara and I was down the street all day. Then Ian bought a new car today so Barb, Larry, Ian and I went to the drive-in. We had a lot of fun. Larry French kissed me once and I’m kinda glad that’s all. I don’t care for it. I like Larry an awful lot. After the show Barbara told Ian the way home but on purpose she told him the wrong way. So, he turned around and we drove down to the Jolly 4 but I didn’t want Larry to go so I said, ‘Ian, are you hungry?’ and he said ‘yes’. So, we went to Jack-in-the-Box and then to Santa Clara point for a while. Then we took Larry to the Jolly 4 cause he was sleeping there.

We all had a big blast tonight.”
