Miss Norma’s Diary – October 31, 1961 – “Paul was still with her. I thought he would never get lost”

“Today I went to school After school I didn’t go out because Barbara had to go to the dentist. At night Barbara and I went out and Paul went with us, it was boring with him along. I wish he would stop bothering me. Bob is really going to get married. When Barb and I and Paul came home we didn’t expect them to come trailing after but he did every where we went he had to go too. So I got fed up and I wouldn’t go out anymore. So Barbara and he went out for a while and when Barbara came back later, Paul was still with her. I thought he would never get lost.”

Sunday

“Today we went out to each breakfast and then we went to Sallie’s but she wasn’t home. I saw the dogs and Pepper and Specks (chickens). Then we went to the swap meet and walked around. There was a lot of cute boys there. Later we went to Chris and Don’s house and I called Sallie’s house about every 20 minutes but I never did get a hold of her. We left Chris’s about 8:30. Mabel and Frank was there too cause their car broke down at San Levi’s. Ray and they had a hick hike to Chris! When we got home I watched the rest of Bonanza and then I went to bed.”

“At about 4:00 o’clock Barbara and I went down the street. We didn’t see anybody we know so it was boring. At night I stayed home. We went out to eat, so I talked Mommy & Daddy into going to the Bar-B-Q Pit and that real cut boy was working, he had to clear the tables around us all the time so he kept coming over right by our table and he kept looking at me in the window. I was looking at him too. When we were coming home we went by Thrifty’s and I saw Barry going in there.”

Today I went to school. After school Barb and I went down the street. We saw Charlie’s brother. Then we saw the cute hick in the B-B-Q pit and we saw that cute little Don that works in there. Then we saw Ralph a couple of times. Then Ralph kept walking around the block he went around the block 6 times in a row for no reason at all. We saw Lynn too. We also saw Don and the Paul that words in Big Beans. At night Barb spent the nite with me so we stayed home and watched T.V.

Today I went to school. At lunch Paul came and talked to me but we didn’t talk. I only said two sentences to him and I thin he got pretty mad. After school Barb and I went down the street, we were about to go into the record store when I saw Don in there so I walked on. Later we saw Barry and Don waling on the other side of the street, when they saw us they came over. Barry said ‘Where you going?’ and I said ‘Home’ and he said ‘Don wants to ask you a question’ but Don wouldn’t say nothing so all of a sudden he accidentally said it and Barb and I walked of, they followed us to Thrifty’s and they kept asking us. They said ‘come on, we know what kind of girls you are’ and they finally left. I gotta make Barry believe that I’m not a bad girl.

Today I didn’t get dressed until really late in the afternoon. Then I went down to Thrifty’s with Daddy and I got a couple of True Confession magazines. At night, Bob, Marie, Chuck and Richard came over then later Bobby and Pat came over. Frank and Mabel were already here so we all watched television. We saw Bonanza in color and it was real good so was Disneyland.
