Miss Norma’s Diary – September 29, 1960 – ” I was just about cussing myself out”

Thursday

“Today I went to school and I got Dick’s picture. After school, Barbara and I went down the street. At night we went down to the miniature golf course and Loren was working. We played golf in 10 minutes and when we got through, Barbara wanted to bowl. So just before Barbara threw the ball, Loren said, ‘Wait, I want to play a game with you’ so he did and Loren would look at me and smile, all the time he would smile. When we were through bowling, Loren went and got 3 more dimes and we bowled again. Later Mr. And Mrs. Richards came and I though Loren was going to stay. Mrs. Richards asked us if we wanted a ride home and I said, ‘I don’t want to go home yet.’ I wouldn’t have said this but I thought Loren was going to stay. Well anyway as Mrs. Richards was asking us Loren was standing there smiling at me. When they was walking to Loren’s car, Barbara and I went to the head and I was just about cussing myself out. Then I told Barb to ask Mrs. Richards if they still wanted to take us home and so they took Barbara home first and then they took me home. When I got home, I told Mommy and Daddy that Mrs. Richards took me home. When Loren and his mom was taking us home, .  . .

I was holding onto his surfboard and it is real smooth . . .

. . .and all four of us was sitting in front but Mrs. Richards was sitting next to Loren. Before Mrs. And Mr. Richards got there tonight, Loren was talking to us. Barb had her radio out and the song ‘You Talk Too Much’ was playing and Loren said, ‘I don’t like that song at all’ he said ‘The first time I heard it, it was playing on my car radio and I pushed the button to change it to another station.’ Then Loren was looking at my radio KDEO sheet and on the back of it I had blotted my lipstick and there was a lip imprint. So, Loren turned the sheet over and there was another was another boy there and so Loren showed it to him and said, ‘See what they do on any old piece of paper?’ Then Loren said, ‘Just think how many people touch these things and then they drop them on the floor and put them back with the others and paint ‘em which to make ‘em look clean.’ And Loren was saying something about his English teacher cracks him up.”
