Miss Norma’s Diary – August 31, 1960 – “I am beginning to think Loren likes Barbara a little bit because he pays so much attention to her”

Wednesday

“Today I stayed home all day, at night Barbara and I went down to the miniature golf course. Loren was there. I am beginning to think Loren likes Barbara a little bit because he pays so much attention to her.

Tonight he just kept flirting with her all the time but he talks to me too and he smiles at me all the time and he hardly ever smiles at Barbara. . .

. . .Tonight after Loren left, Barbara and I bowled with Jimmy. Well, that’s about all that I did today. Frank and Mabel came to pick Barbara and I up at the miniature golf course and when we got in the car, Frank said ‘Did you kiss your boyfriend?’ and I said, ‘He wasn’t there’.  I Love Malcolm (forever).”

Miss Norma’s Diary – August 29, 1960 – “So, when I went in her bedroom, I just about fell over because Frank was already there”

Monday

“Today was a very boring day. I stayed in the Record Store from 1:00 o’clock to 5:30 because Barbara had to work there. While I was in the Record Store, Mabel called and said Frank called so she said, ‘I’ll come down and pick you up so we can go get him.’ Mabel started driving home so I said, ‘I have to go home and change my clothes.’ So, when we got home, Mabel told me to come in her bedroom and help her get dressed. . .

So, when I went in her bedroom, I just about fell over because Frank was already there. . .

When we come up there, he smiled and he said to me, ‘What did you get on the last game, 65, 75 or 85?’ and then he smiled and i said, ‘I got 60’ and he smiled and sat down and started eating again. I love Malcolm.”

Miss Norma’s Diary – August 23, 1960 – “Can I put my cigarettes in your purse so nobody will get them”

Tuesday

“Today I went down the street with Mommy and Mabel. At night, Barbara and I went to Joy’s beach party. It was pretty boring. Barbara and I kept waiting for Hardie to come but he never did. When they were serving the cake at the party, everybody was standing up at the table but me. I was sitting on the blanket. Paul’s mother came up to me and said, ‘Come up to the table with everybody else and get some cake.’ And I said, ‘I didn’t want any.’ So, she went over and got some and another guy and they came over. They were trying to pull me over to the table but I kept pulling back and then . . .

. . .Mickey came over and picked me up and carried me over to the table and put me down and I got some cake.

2016-08-08 13.37.54

. . .Later, this guy named Dan came over and said, ‘Can I put my cigarettes in your purse so nobody will get them.’ I said ‘o.k.’ I had Neal’s radio all the time we were at the beach because he put it in my purse and told me to watch it for him.”
