“Today I went to school as always and Warren didn’t pay a bit of attention to me until after school Then he and his brother was walking and as we had almost passed Warren’s house, he was walking right behind me almost stepping on my heels. I think I made him jealous because Gene and two other guys drove by in a car and I waved to Gene so they went around the block again. After school, I tried to get out of going down the street with Connie but I couldn’t. So, we went down and got Barb. Barbara said to Connie and me mostly, ‘Let’s get home early today so I can go up to your house.’ So, we went in about 2 stores and then Barb and I said there’s no place to go so we went up to my house and Connie went home. Then Barb and I went back down the street and went down to the beach but it was almost 4:15 then. So, Loren and Tony was not there so we went to the golf course and they were there. When we went in there, Vern said ‘Hi, Norma!’ and then he smiled.

He was smiling all the time we were there.

When we started to leave, Vern said, ‘Where you going? Down to the beach?’ and I said ‘yes’. When we came back they were all waking toward Tony’s house. At night, we came down there and Vern was there. We found out that Vern is 15 and he’s lived here for about a month and he was talking to some boy about moving to La Jolla and I hope that’s not what he said because I don’t want him to move there. Then he said something about going up there Friday right after school but I hope he doesn’t move Friday night if he moves because then he probably won’t go to the show Saturday nigh. Vern is one of 4 brothers or else he has four brothers and his twin sister. One of his brothers goes to P.B.J.H. Well, at 8:00 Vern had to go home but I still can’t figure out where he lives but he can’t move to La Jolla because he won’t go to the show and I won’t see him any more. I love Vern.”
